TOWN HALL PROJECT TIMELINE
January 2022
The Dewey Beach Town Council began discussions of constructing a new Town Hall and Police Station.
May 2022
The Commissioners reviewed proposed architectural drawings, and approved a design submitted by GMB Architecture for a building to be located at 1505 Coastal Highway (currently the Parking Enforcement office) that would house the Town Hall administrative team, Dewey Beach Police Department, Parking Enforcement, Alderman Court, and the Sussex County EMS. Follow up meetings are held to finalize the design of the building. The building is designed as a Risk Level 4 Structure. Risk level 4 structures are considered essential for continuous use, particularly in response to disasters. They must remain operational during and after major disaster-type events. Examples include hospitals, fire stations, police stations, and emergency vehicle garages. These buildings have the highest designation available in ASCE 7-16 and represent the most stringent design requirements.
November 2024
An RFP was issued for the construction of the building.
January 2025
A total of seven bids are received for the construction of the building at a public bid opening. The full tabulation sheet is available here.

All of the items below are included in the bid:
Section 10 80 00 has bulk of those listed, and includes paper towel dispenser, hand dryers, HDCP grab bars, toilet paper dispensers, soap dispensers, mirrors, utility shelf for mops (MEP spec has mop sink and faucet), sanitary napkin disposal, hat and coat hooks, shower curtains & rods, baby changing stations, and lavatory shields.
All built-in cabinets/countertops are included. Includes supply stations in halls, breakroom areas, conference room, multipurpose room (near IR), bathroom vanities, kitchen/kitchenette, EMS sallyport countertop, lighting for all rooms in the ceiling/hallway/stairway/garage and outside of the building. All window blinds are included. Lockers in the locker room.
Built-in adjustable shelving is also included and listed under section 06 41 00.
