One of the best access points to the bay here in Dewey lies at the end of Dickinson Avenue and Van Dyke Street. Here you'll find a beautifully maintained beach to lounge the day away. All amenities provided on the ocean beach during the summer season can also be found on the bay, including chair and umbrella rental and lifeguard services. A roped off area provides safe, ample room to enjoy a swim in the bay. The bay beach is a great option for families with young children who aren't quite ready for the ocean surf! During permitted hours, our canine friends also enjoy a dip in the calm water of the bay. Also available nearby is the public gazebo, as well as rest rooms off of Van Dyke Avenue. Nestled behind the Hyatt Hotel and Lighthouse Restaurant, the hotel also provides public parking in the parking garage.
Named after our beloved former mayor, the TJ Redefer Memorial Bay Walk is the perfect spot to catch all of the action on the bay. Just as Mayor TJ had a talent for bringing people together, we like to say that the Bay Walk serves this purpose well. Take a stroll out over the bay to see the boats come and go from the nearby marina. Enjoy restaurants within walking distance - you can often hear live music too. During the summer season, crowds gather to watch the volleyball tournaments in the early afternoon. Stick around to see the sunset, there's no better place to watch the sun seemingly drop into the bay at dusk. At the end of the pier, take a picture under the Dewey Beach sign to always remember your visit to Dewey!
